Dissonance

Dissonance is a live audio effects toy. It plays back microphone or other sound input, changed in pitch, speed, or with other effects. It is free software released under the GNU General Public License.

Contact the maintainer with comments, bug reports, or other enquiries. Dissonance was created and is maintained by Kevin Daughtridge. It was created in response to the "MaudIO" entry to the "Make it with Mono" competition, but I made it without Mono, and you can too.

  • Uses the modern GStreamer multimedia framework to support a wide range of audio systems.
  • Supported effects are pitch and speed adjustment, multivoice chorus, reverberation, echo, and noise (interference).
  • A sound level meter visualises the output.
